01 / Fragmented research
Research starts in separate places.
Clinical studies, engineering literature, device specifications, patents, and FDA records each reveal part of the picture.
More time developing what comes next. Less time piecing the evidence together.
Dedicated investigations · Allow around 30 minutes

From research to R&D direction
Connect reported problems, possible mechanisms, and existing solutions to reveal what remains unresolved.
Research with reach
Large public research collections meet a focused team of AI agents—bringing clinical, engineering, product, patent, and safety perspectives together.
Public collection sizes and the WHO market estimate provide context for the research landscape. Collections overlap; these are not counts of records stored or read by this system. Figures checked October 26, 2026.
Literature & patents. PubMed and Europe PMC collections overlap. Google Patents reports over 120 million publications worldwide; the current research configuration focuses on US patent results.
Medical devices. WHO estimates approximately 2 million different kinds of medical devices on the world market. This is market context, not a count of devices indexed by this system.
Regulatory & safety. The FDA figure sums all available records in the eight device datasets used by the research architecture. It includes 32,418,328 dataset records, rather than distinct documents or devices. Related records can appear in multiple datasets. Retrieval depends on the question and source access.
| Dataset | Records |
|---|---|
| Adverse-event reports | 26,557,775 |
| Unique device identifiers | 5,182,695 |
| Registrations & listings | 336,946 |
| 510(k) clearances | 176,466 |
| Device recalls | 59,618 |
| Premarket approvals | 57,373 |
| Recall enforcement reports | 40,358 |
| Device classifications | 7,097 |
| Combined records | 32,418,328 |
Why it matters
01 / Fragmented research
Clinical studies, engineering literature, device specifications, patents, and FDA records each reveal part of the picture.
02 / The synthesis challenge
Teams spend time comparing claims, tracing mechanisms, and resolving conflicting findings before they can decide what matters.
03 / Connected intelligence
Dedicated AI agents bring these perspectives together to identify unresolved needs and develop grounded R&D hypotheses.
Built from experience
The thinking behind InnovaMed Intelligence
Searching the literature. Comparing device designs. Reading patent filings. Looking for the engineering explanation behind a clinical problem.
Our team has worked through this process firsthand. We know the effort it takes to bring separate findings together into a useful direction for medical-device research.
InnovaMed grows out of that experience. We’re translating how we investigate these questions into a coordinated team of AI agents—so more effort can go into interpreting the evidence, exploring possibilities, and deciding what to pursue.
What drives us
Help teams close research gaps and advance medical-device innovations that can improve patient care.
The platform
A research process shaped by experience. Powered by specialized AI agents.
Each agent investigates a different part of the question. Their findings are brought together to examine trade-offs, challenge assumptions, and identify opportunities that deserve further investigation.
A high-level view of the research workflow. Early access is opening in phases.
Turns your research question into a focused investigation and coordinates the specialist tasks.
Investigates published findings on clinical outcomes, complications, patient populations, and reported unmet needs.
Examines anatomy, biomechanics, materials, and physical principles to explain how a device works and why it may fail.
Maps existing devices, product families, specifications, and the claims made by manufacturers.
Searches patent publications for technical approaches, inventors, assignees, and relevant device concepts.
Investigates relevant FDA device records, submissions, recalls, and reported adverse events.
Reviews findings across the specialist workstreams for contradictions, unsupported claims, and missing evidence.
Connects findings across domains to surface unresolved needs and formulate opportunity hypotheses.
Maps relationships between problems, mechanisms, products, patents, evidence, and opportunities within the investigation.
Brings the investigation together into a readable research report with references, integrated reasoning, and explicit uncertainties.
More perspectives planned for future releases.

Example research questions
Each example is scoped for the full agent team: clinical evidence, engineering, products, patents, and FDA records, brought together through evidence review and opportunity discovery.
Examples of the kinds of questions the system is designed for. Useful for early-stage opportunity scoping, competitive and technical landscaping, design-input research, and deciding what to investigate next.
What you receive
Understand what the evidence supports, where explanations conflict, and which opportunities need testing—with a structured, source-linked report your team can question, discuss, and build on.
Finding — Sourced from referenced material.
Interpretation — Engineering reasoning based on findings.
Hypothesis — A grounded opportunity to investigate — not a conclusion.
Scope & framing
How the question was interpreted and what was — and wasn't — investigated.
Clinical problem landscape
Reported complications, outcomes, and unmet needs, with source references.
Mechanism explanations
First-principles engineering reasoning about why problems may occur, labeled as interpretation.
Device & claims review
Existing products and what manufacturers claim, set against independent evidence.
Patent & technical approaches
Approaches described in patent publications. Not a freedom-to-operate or clearance opinion.
Regulatory & safety signals
What FDA records, recalls, and adverse-event reports show — and their limits.
Conflicts & evidence gaps
Where sources disagree, where claims are unsupported, and what's missing.
Opportunity hypotheses
Grounded, testable hypotheses for what to investigate next — not validated conclusions.
